Overdraft protection fees claim back?????

Please please help me with a little advice. For many many years I've been unbelievably laid back when it comes to finances and very rarely check the in and outs of my bank account. However like everyone else in the uk I'm really beginning to feel the pinch . So I've took upon myself to start trying to save money. Stopped smoking, stopped monthly direct debits that are no use to me i.e creditexpert and shopper discount etc. doing this I came across a monthly charge named OD PROTECTION PLAN. I've seen it a couple if time before but just ignored it. Thinking it was just a monthly overdraft fee. But it's a type of insurance . A type which I can't remember asking for or think I need. From what I remember I've never gone over my overdraft. Turns out I've been paying this insurance since 2001 til present. Any grounds for a claim? If so how? Many thanks for taking time to read this...

You can only claim back premiums if the bank mis-sold it to you and you have provable evidence. Just having it/ ignoring it, doesn't mean it was mis-sold.
Can you think of reasons it may have been mis-sold?
I suggest you cancel it now, if you don't want it.
O and well done for quitting smoking

Not sure if it was mid sold or just added as I can't remember asking for it or signing for it. As it was 12 years ago. So would the fact that I didn't sign for it not mean it was mid sold?
And thanks :-)0 -

Hi lukeashton. I am also getting stung with this od protection through santander, but was originally set up by alliance and liecester. I never signed or asked for it. Have you taken your case any further?
I've tried talking to santander about it, but they seem to have no idea were the moneys going to. I asked them to stop the "od protection" but they say they can't. They sent me a photo copy of the alliance and liecester policy rules, which wasn't much of a help. I just want my money back.0
