Is my DVD a dual layer?

I bought a Dimension E520 from Dell a few weeks ago. It has a DVD writer but I can't find anywhere anything to say it's a dual-layer drive even though the sales person said it would be, how do I check? I don't have any dual-layer DVD's yet so can't try and see
I presume dual-layer just means a double capacity DVD... which would be useful when 4.7GB just isn't enough :rotfl: Thanks

Im assuming you have Vista
On my computer "right click" then Select "properties" then "device Manager" on the left side and then click the"DVD/cd"
This will tell you the make of your writer. Copy and paste this into a search engine like google and you should be able to find a technical specification for the drive.0 -
Yes I have Vista Premium, complete with runtime errors, etc. :rolleyes:Millionaire wrote: »Im assuming you have Vista

Thanks I'll do that and see what comes up :beer:0 -
Hmmm
The only information I could pick up was this and nowhere can I find anything about it being a dual-layer

EDIT: found this thread which suggests it could be a dual layer... http://forums.support.roxio.com/lofiversion/index.php/t6027.html0 -
I had a quick search on google for anything "GSA-H31N" related. It does bring up your DVD drive on several pages, but none of these name it as being dual layer - so I expect it isn't!Throwing acid is bad.... in some peoples eyes...0

I stand corrected. Give that man a coconut!
:T :T :T
Actually, thinking about it now - the age of the drive would be a big clue! Every time I hear the name Dell, I instantly think of the archaic beasts that we're forced to work on from time to time. Ugh.Throwing acid is bad.... in some peoples eyes...0 -

Righty-ho cheers both, I'll be buying some dual-layer discs then.
Any recommendations for decent places to buy from (at a decent price
) appreciated  when you've finished with each other's coconuts :rotfl: 0 -
