Campsite in France

Hi, My parents are looking for a campsite in France, preferably Normandy/Picardy/Brittany type of area as they have never driven abroad before. Does anybody know of any good websites for this that are reasonably priced. They want to go just before the school holidays start in July. Can anyone recommend anything?

I would recommend looking at the Yelloh Village website. They are a company that we came across in France and have booked directly through their website now a number of times. We have taken our own tent and also stayed in the on-site chalets. We have found the facilites to be clean and fresh - particularly earlier in the season of course. Here is a link to the English version of the website:

If the want a "package deal" including crossings have a look at siblu/keycamp/eurocamp, or booking direct Chateau Des Ormes is a good (big) one but perhaps more a family place. Close to St Malo if they get a crossing to there not much driving.

i have camped all over france and the best company by far is canvas holidays canvasholidays.co.uk.
Keycamp, sunsites, eurocamp, matthews holidays are all ok but canvas has allways been so much better.
Another excellent area on same west coast is st John de monts, lovely beachside camps and only 2 hours from caen.

The loveliest place to go is western coast which is about 4-5 hour drive to areas like the vendee with camping acapulco which is excellent.
To be honest i have never found a bad site yet in the vendee area and all the canvas sites are clean and well equipped.

They will get great deals outside main holiday periods although early july may not be ideal as French school holidays will have started. Also suggest they try and avoid travelling on a Saturday early July if its their first trip as will be busier

ukcampsite forums useful as is their Ukcampsite search which has France as well with reviews
