flying to jamaica for 1 year

in august of this year me and my family will be going to jamaica and staying for a year.

i have done numerous searches and i am getting prices for 6mth return £2000-£2300 (1 adult and 3 children) depending on the date in august, this also drops to 1725 on sept 1st.

is there any way i can do this differently? can i extend this 6mth to a year?
can i use a charter flight and just not use the return and then book from ja when ready to return?

hope someone can advise me
