Cam belt gone 4mths into 6mth warranty?

Bought a used Peugeot MPV off a local garage, it had 88000 mls on the clock and despite my requests they would not replace the cam belt stating 'the book' recommends 100000 mls.
Sods law after 4 months & very few miles later the cam belt has snapped causing expensive engine damage and they are saying its not covered within the 6 mth warranty. I disagree as this is an integral part of the engine unlike tyres for example.
Any advice where I stand legally on this please?
Many thanks in advance!

What are the terms of the warranty? What is the wording of the clause they claim excludes the cambelt from cover?0

Another used car warranty that states 'fair wear and tear excluded' which gets the warrenty provider off the hook for just about every possible claim?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

who are saying its not covered , warranty company or garage.
legally i think you need to go after the garage that sold you the car0 -
What is the make and model of the MPV, also what year is it?
There's a time limit as well as mileage.0 -
If this is the 807, and it's a 2.0 or 2.2 diesel pre-56 reg, it's a common problem.
It's caused by rainwater running down the windscreen and under the bonnet, causing corrosion to the cam belt, because there is no protective cover in place.
I had a new engine put in my C8 in 2011 at Citroen's expense. Had to take them to court for my other losses, but that's another story.
There's loads and loads of stuff if you Google it, including a news article from the French press and lots of French forum discussions.
Citroen/Peugeot/Fiat are aware of the problem, but will not do anything.
I filed a vehicle defect report with VOSA when mine went, but they came back to me and said that, despite receiving others, the manufacturers have decided not to do a recall.
At 88,000 miles you're getting pretty close to the time when it needs to be replaced, but if you use google, there is some help out there.
I'm at work at the moment, but when I get home, I'll take a look at what I found for my case.
ETA: The recommended replacement was at 100,000 miles or 10 years, but they changed this. Post October 2006, the vehicle was fitted with a scuttle panel which drained the water away from the engine.
