No Audio

Hi

I mentioned on hee yesteday I had tried toput Vista on my Travel Mate 2490, but I could not do it.

After trying various things I have now decided not to bother, why sell it in the first place and say it's Vista compatable, when in fact to do so would mean upgrading the machine, i.e. memory?

Anyway, after deciding to stay with XP I find I have no audio. I knew an Acer disc to help install Vista had emoved some programs but I was unsure what, his must havebeen one of them.

I have tried replacing the driver, both from online and from my back up disc, but I keeping getting a box popping up asking for "the file ksuser.dll On Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 is required. It then gives me the options to browse for a path to find this item.

To be honest I don't know where to look.

I have emailed Acer but there service is terrible, so I just wondered had anybody come accross this before or similar.

I thought I would just have to re install the audio driver.

I had ead a few comments about Vista/XP, I now fully agree, if it works don't try and fix it!

Oh, by the way it's a Realtek High Definition Audio Driver I am trying to instal.

Thanks in advance

Martin

As ksuser.dll is a generic Microsoft dll, why not just download it, save it to a folder on your C drive and point the installation program to that location when prompted? See

    Hi

Thanks for trying to help me.
I have downloaded the ksuser.dll and save it. However when I try and doing the install and pointing it to the ksuser.dll, it says "the target files exists and is newer than the source and then give me the option to overwrite the newer file.

It then also looks for a file marked ksproxy.

    Any ideas?

The Audio Device I am trying to install is the correct one as I have downloaded it from the Acer website.

    Thanks

It seems that you do in fact have a ksuser.dll file on your hard drive. If you use the Start > Search facility to find it (and the ksproxy file), you will be able to point the installation program to the correct location when it says "the file ksuser.dll On Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 is required".

Remember to tick the boxes marked 'search system folders' and 'search for hidden files' before searching.
