Had a right problem call from my Bank to day and it reminded me of some simple golden Rules.
I wrote to them complaining that they kept calling be evert two weeks to try and visit the branch so they could try and sell me their services. I keep refusing and tell them I work the same hours as the branch is open so even if I want to cant. They are quite put out thatI work saturdays. They Rang Me said I had written said they need to ask me security queston about me account. I said NO you rang me, I should ask you the questions. They got in a right strop saying they could not discuss my account if I did not answer. Well you have a letter from me you dont need to discuss my account I just want these sales calls to stop and I hung up.
The Golden Rule NEVER give personal details to someone who rings you even if you think you know who they are.
They should repect this and not hassel you when you say no.

I had this with my bank, typically if some money had gone into my current account so it was at a higher level than normal.
I had ticked the boxes online for no email, written stuff but there was no box for no telephone contact. They called from a random mobile number and also asked me to answer security questions which I declined to do. Eventually after about four of these calls I wasted some of my time contacting head office and finding out that they could set the "no telephone contact" but I couldn't. They reluctantly did so whilst pointing out that I might miss out on excellent offers(not!)0 -

Buying a financial product from a bank is generally the worst possible purchase.0
