If you have a newish car, diesel in particular, have you asked them if they use manufacturers spec oil and filters... or just some cheap pattern parts?
£29 wouldn`t cover the oil alone in my Honda diesel.
If you want Manufactureres Parts and Manufacturers spec oil, take it to a manufacturers dealership garage, (and ay the hefty price) if why not take it to these guys, whats to loose, as mototguy says though "there is no such thing as a free lunch" but chances are if there are other things wrong it'll still be cheaper than a Dealerships garage..0 -

your probably referring to synthetic oil for your Honda diesel as recommended by the manufacturer and it is much more expensive than ordinary oiltake it to a manufacturers dealership garage, (and ay the hefty price)

I would have thought they use the recommended oil for your particular car, though it may not necessarily be the specific brand the manufacturer pushes.
Likewise the filter would be from a motor factors.
Honda do fixed price servicing from £129 with no checks

"What size engine is it?" 2.2 i-ctdi on Mobil 1 and Honda filters.
If i was driving an old VW, Peugeot, Fiesta with 100k on the clock i`d go for this no problem, but with a newish diesel motor i wouldn`t skimp on oil and filters, its the life of an engine.
You pay cheap, you pay twice.0 -

The offer doesnt apply to you then.
Under the terms and conditions of the offer its only up to two litres.
Have you any evidence the guy would purposely put the 'wrong' oil in the car?
Its clear hes running this as a loss leader, so if on some cars hes out a few pounds and on others hes 'in' a few pounds, what odds?0 -
I had a Honda diesel 2.2.... I had it serviced at all recommended service intervals by Honda. These services were never cheap. After owning the car from new I got to 85,000 miles before it needed a new engine and various other repairs. I'm sure I was unlucky with this car but using a dealership for servicing did nothing only cost me lots of money. I wasn't offered a free engine, differentials or gearbox due to my loyalty.
I now use an independent garage for all repairs and services on my new car. I have not had problems and have fair priced servicing.0 -
I would never ever entertain dealerships for servicing, i have my own guy for that so i know whats being used and he`s easy to pay. I don`t skimp on oil, fully synthetic every time.
As i said older diesels are ok for a fill of Carlube and a factors filter, drive away!
Unfortunately the newer motors are far too sensitive to oils and filters nowadays.
Of course this is a loss leader to build up a customer base... nothing wrong with that0 -
Some people are under the impression that the big dealerships offer better servicing than a small independent
Not necessarily so! as a recent prosecution proved
