Ambassador Auto Repairs

Options
Hi guys, I'm wondering has anyone used Ambassador Auto Repairs before, they are currently offering what seems like an excellent offer on Groupon: http://www.groupon.co.uk/deals/belfast/ambassador-auto-repairs/17883540

I was hoping to get some feedback on them before I actually go ahead and purchase this offer.

Thanks

If your vehicle is recommended to take fully syntheitic oil and the manufacturers own oil filter? These two items will cost more than £29 alone

and collect the car 5 miles away?

    Does not make economic sense!

    .

    It makes economic sense if

    (a) hes building his customer base
    (b) as part of that 50 point check he finds some other work that might need doing - brake pads, tyres, discs, for example.
    (c) Generating future business - If hes any sense he'll also be putting a wee sticker in the car with his name and phone number and 'next service due' date. And noting when your MOT is due and ringing you the month before.
    (d) he'll be buying his parts at trade price and in bulk, so whilst hes maybe not making much, hes not going to be losing anything.
    (e) its good advertising

Not seeing anywhere that mentions he has to use the manufacturers own fuel filter?

I was going to change all the filters and oil myself next week and the parts for this were working out at £36, I'm guessing that for £29 I may as well let these guys change the oil/oil filter and complete their checks to see if I need any additional work.

I cant make a personal recommendation because i know the family of the guy who owns it, however i know they are trying to do the thing 'right' and they're in it for the long game, not to get a quick buck.

It wouldnt surprise me if they are doing what they are doing for the reasons i've suggested - i know his wife is in the customer service industry and would be very clued in on the marketing side of things and building the customer base, etc, etc.

    I'd say give them ago.

Well theres no such thing as a free lunch. And they do add that they wont do any work without the owners permission in advance, so simply decline if you dont want it done.

And as i said, there are other reasons why they would want to be doing this.

If you have a newish car, diesel in particular, have you asked them if they use manufacturers spec oil and filters... or just some cheap pattern parts?

£29 wouldn`t cover the oil alone in my Honda diesel.
