Going to work in China - Insurance help please

My 22yr old is going to work in China for a year in a few weeks. This is not a Gap year or backpacker type thing but a full time job placement. I'm trying to find some insurance for him but am not sure what type of policy I'm looking for. He will also be travelling around at the weekends etc but no dangerous sports that I'm aware of.
Can anyone help please

If you google "expat insurance", a lot of different companies come up offering the sort of cover your son needs: A combination of health, personal possessions, legal expenses and personal accident cover.

I suggest that you (or he) asks the employer, or whoever has arranged the work placement. It would be usual to arrange medical cover as part of the deal (in practice anyone working in China is likely to be part of a Work Unit, and Work Units provide medical care for their members).

Otherwise, a 'gap year' insurance policy from someone like Columbus would be a good way to arrange medical cover. Insurance for luggage and valuables might be more difficult to find at reasonable cost, but someone working in China would be at a lot less risk than a tourist.
