Hot Dogs for a Rugby team?

It is my turn with 2 others to prep a quick after game snack/meal for 100 boys age 8-12 .
One half of the team want hot dogs -is horse meat an issue?
Other half wants pasta meal with good quality bread in polystyrene containers.
My criteria is
1. easy
2. something that will be eaten
3. Prefer no washing up but as my NY resolution was to be more green then no containers that will be thrown away.
4. Lowest cost is always good.
Maybe not the right forum but I love all the old style receipes and tips and so I figured you have all catered for numerous large groups of hungry boys and know exactly the answer.

horsemeat seems to have been found in beef products and as I think that hot dog sausages are pork there should be no problem.
Google eco fast food containers for alternatives to polysterene, here's one such company:

Alternatively, for no expense, tell everyone to bring a container to eat out of which they (or their parent) will take home and wash.
you can also use ordainary sausages to go into hot dog buns. Get in touch with a local butcher, many make their own sausages, and see if they are open to providing a discount in return for a regular order. Even if it's a one off purchase a local butcher will know the provenance of their meat which will be reassuring for everyone. Might even help to prevent the demise of the high street - every food scare cloud has a silver lining!0 -
Great ideas from seakay as always.
You are providing a 'snack' for hungry 8-12 year old boys after a rugby match. Hotdogs made with decent pork sausages sounds like a great idea and can easily be served with just a napkin.
If they want something that needs to be served in a dish, then ask them to bring their own dish. For the pasta, I'd make a giant vat of bolognese sauce and spaghetti, but that really does sound like a lot of bother for an after match snack. Did the boys actually ask for 'good quality' bread?
In my opinion, as a mother of two rugby players, the boys won't give a stuff what you provide as long as they get fed. After most matches mine weren't catered for and didn't have something to eat until they got home...but they always really enjoyed a flask of soup or hot chocolate as soon as the game was over.
If I were you, next time I don't think I'd give them an alternative option, unless of course, they have food allergies, religious reasons or are vegetarian/vegan. Most 8-12 year old boys will eat anything and be grateful for it if they're hungry, which they almost certainly will be after the match.
Good luck with it and I hope they win!

Pasta twists etc are easier to manage than spaghetti.
How about a gaint lasagne or two that can be dished into portions?0 -
In all honesty i'd stuff em and make sarnies sounds like too much hassle. I have 2 boys this age range and they don't care what they eat so long as it's edible.0

how about fusilli pasta bake or macaroni cheese?Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0

if beef has been "shall we say modified"
its a fair bet pork/lamb/chicken etc has also been tampered with especially for cheaper meals /products ie hot dogs0 -
I think I'd go down the route of French sticks, sausages, a tomato based pasta sauce and pasta.
French stick with sausage in for those who want a hot dog (more filling with a decent sausage and crusty bread) and a vat of pasta in a sauce to be ladled into a bowl/cup with optional sausage chunks to go in and a slice of French stick. That covers the veggie option too if the sausages aren't cooked in the sauce."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Frankfurters probably have a hell of a lot worse in than horse meat! I don't know why someone doesn't invent good quality frankfurters, they would be amazing! I would go for hot (normal) sausage in a roll and a squirt of ketchup, could be served on a piece of kitchen rollBest wins in 2013 £200 and Mini iPad. 2014 no wins. 2015 2 nights 5* hotel with £300 vouchers plus £1150 Harrods gift card

Good quality hot dogs are expensive. If you are doing them then you need to grill some good quality normal sausages. Pasta sauce and french stick would be a cheaper and easier to cook on the day option.2013 Free Money - £363.44 Topcashback
