Would a booster seat be safer in my car?
Options
Im considering changing my sons britax car seat to just a booster
This is the seat im using curently http://www.mothercare.com/Britax-Adventure-High-Back-Booster-Car-Seat-without-Harness---Black-Thunder/548433,default,pd.html
My son is 7 years old (hes small for 7) and his current seat goes to age 12. We have this seat in both of our cars. However in my car there is very little room in the back (renault megane cabriolet 2+2 seater) and today a friend mentioned that he was very close to the front seat and it got me thinking.
Would he be safer on just a plan booster seat? As he would be able to sit against the back of the car seat and would be a few inches further back. However there would be less protection from side impact, the seat holds him in position when he falls asleep (doesnt fall asleep often tbh), and the seatbelt fits nicely over his shoulder.
What would you do?
Thanks

We moved to booster seats about age 6 made life much simpler, child could put its own seat belt on. She is now age 9 and over 135cm and hasn't even had a booster seat for 6 months.
I had to keep measuring her for about a year on her insistence to get rid of the booster as soon as possible.
When the older two were wee the car didn't even come with seat belts in the back!0 -

The idea of a booster seat it to raise the child so the seatbelt sits correctly and does not go over their neck. Can you not borrow one from a friend at school just for 5 mins to try if this fits OK ?Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy0
