JVC car stereo 2 DIN KW-R600BTE - magnet for thieves?

Utterly disappointed to find out, after the JVC 2 DIN KW-R600BTE unit was fitted in my car earlier, that the fascia is not removable. Do manufacturers of such units not bear in mind security features of car stereos should be important as they are a magnet for thieves? :(

Do you not think it is more appropriate to worry about why no-one wants to steal your car  (Sorry couldn't resist)

Out of interest, how do you rate the radio itself, in terms of reception? Just that I'm thinking of fitting one to my car.

I suspect that JVC reckon that a £135 radio/CD isn't worth enough to a potential thief to be that much of a target...

The system itself looks well made and is in par with, if not better than, the more expensive brands in the same range. Even the audio centre recommended it against a Clarion, Alpine or Pioneer for instance.

Lots of features for Smartphone/Iphone users, handsfree calling via the bluetooth works very clearly, mode selection for external subwoofer (if you fit one in future) is there, aux at the front allows me to play my internet radio (which I prefer as I more choice of radio stations with no sound disturbance from the app on my Iphone called TuneIn), I can change the fascia colour to match my dashboard (a bit vain I know :rotfl:) and perhaps a lot more features I have yet to discover.

Value for money certainly but shame about the lack of security. I have owned JVC and Pioneer systems in the past in various cars, all with removable fascias for security. Thieves will try to steal anything these days and this system looks expensive although it isn't.
