I don't see why not. In fact I might just pop to the wholesalers myself and buy one and freeze the contents - much cheaper than buying smaller tins, and who can be bothered with the faff of preparing a fresh one?

I've frozen it as part of pineable upside down cake so I can't see any problems.

I guess the worst that will happen is it goes a bit squidgy but that won't be a problem in smoothies.

We used to use the catering tins of crushed pineapple in the bakery but only for one particular recipe, so we used to bag it up in portions and freeze it. It froze perfectly (and it makes lovely ice lollies ;)) and was absolutely fine afterwards.

I froze some leftover pineapple rings the other week then took them out and used them in a stir fry. :)

Can you freeze fresh? I love fresh pineapple but there is always too much for me in one sitting and it seems to go off so quickly!

You can freeze fresh pineapple but it will go squishy when it thaws. Tinned pineapple tends to be a bit softer anyway and is already 'preserved' by the juice/syrup, so the freezing doesn't really make a difference, but you will notice it with fresh.

    Hi everyone

I have an unexpected guest this evening and am just wondering what to feed them with. I'm unfreezing some of my boring stew :o:o and have discovered two tins of pineapple that I bought from sainsburys last month - they are in the bargain range and i think were about 15p each.

Does anyone have any ideas what I could do with tinned pineapple to make a pudding to follow my boring stew with??
    Thanks

How about pineapple upsidedown cake? I don't have a specific recipe, but its just tinned pineapple slices on the bottom of a pyrex type dish, with a glace cherry in the middle of each ring if you've got them, then a sponge mix on top, then bake it in the oven.

    HTH,
