Tesco Fruit and Veg

Over the recent months I have come to notice that fruit and veg in tescos has no longevity. for instance in my local tesco xtra you cannot buy tomatoes loose, only off the vine which is twice as dear and franky normal tomatoes except some lazy !!! hasnt removed the vine. instead you can buy a pack of six tomatoes but there are either rotten/soft/damaged or rockhard and green. there is just no quality. the tesco value vine packs were rotten, mouldy and leaking juice.
Tesco onions are badly marked and bruised and their potatoes would have walter raleigh turning in his grave. Is anyone finding tesco fruit and veg not up to scratch
finally, bread is well over a quid for a loaf and most brands have only 2-3 days left on them. the supermarkets are thriving on our wasteful culture. Grrr

I bought a pack of Satsumas last month and one was black inside and that was the day after I bought them!
I complained via email, as I didn't want to traipse back with a rotten bit of of fruit on my person!!!, but got absolutely nowhere and found the customer service department to be patronising and unhelpful.0 -
I agree with you Beckett. Tesco's F & V are definitely going downhill. Tomatoes all come from a vine! Theres no point in buying more expensive 'vine on' toms! And don't get me started on where they come from. In the summer months when toms are in our british season we have to pay extortionate prices for them, yet a 'value' tomato comes from Spain!!
Grrrrrrrr0 -
I no longer buy fruit and veg from Tesco because of the short shelf life, not only that but the produce is utterly tasteless, ive been buying from my local farm for 3months now and im very happy with what i get and it lasts ages and tastes like real fruit and veg should taste.0

Ive stopped buying fruit and veg from there a few months ago its rubbish morrisons is much better and you can get a bunch of grapes for a 1/4 of the price of tescos ive had bread mouldy when ive opened the packet and they dont stock certain breads0

my mum works for a farm shop so i am going to get discounted. i agree the stuff at tescos is tasteless and dare i say not as colourful as it should be.0

i dont buy tesco f & V, its disgusting stuff and goes off far too quickly, like most of the crap they sell - they just take the p!ss out of people.

Must admit my local market sell far better quality and cheaper too.0

Tesco freeze their fruit and veg to keep them longer in storage and then on the shop floor they defrost so when we buy them they have only a couple of days use left in them. I stopped buying their fruit and veg a few years ago and last year stopped going there altogether. I use Aldi and Morrisons now, much cheaper and last twice as long. You're not your * could have not of * Debt not dept *0

Why shop at Tesco then if you don't like their produce? Noone forces you to shop there! (and don't start on the "there's nowhere else to buy stuff as Tesco have shut them all down" argument, it's simply untrue).
I agree Tesco's (and other supermarkets') fruit & veg is not the best - obviously so as the produce has a good few warehouses to visit before it can arrive in the shops whereas a greengrocer gets it almost straight from the farmer.
Fact is I choose Tesco (or and 24hr supermarket) over greengrocers/market stalls as I don't have the time or inclincation to be farting round looking for the best tomatoes!0 -
If you ask anyone what colour a banana is they will say "yellow".
Why is it impossible to buy a yellow banana in a shop any more ? They are all as green as grass, when you buy them and take them home they go from green to black without passing through the yellow stage !0
