Too old a PPI claim?

Hi all,
I'm not sure I have much of a chance with this one, I took out a Loan that ran from Sept 1999 to Aug 2002 (finance via a Car manufacturer) and cannot find the account number and I no longer have the bank statements.
I suspect there's not much hope for me being able to claim but could anyone confirm this?
Thanks
