  • Hey Snaggles! Did you have to start another profile when you became an adviser? It sure is nice to see some old familiar [strike]faces[/strike] usernames around here, not to mention seeing the abundance of newer members. MSE really is a fabby place :)

No, I just forgot my password, and no longer have the email address I registered with, so I couldn't even reset it. Although now you mention it, it's probably not a terrible idea that my previous ramblings are under a different name (not that I am very incognito now)! :D

Wow, fingers crossed for the Ebay auctions bringing in a decent amount! :T

    :D

And that one particular auction has eight watchers and one bidder, there's another watcher on another auction too. Fingers crossed for being purchase neutral!

Today I spent £0 in cash but £6.99 on probably about six months of fish food for my goldie, via ebay (yay nectarpoints haha). Not sure if that counts as a NSD or not.

Had home made broth for lunch and second lunch, probably cost about 40p for the whole pot. Told my BF about the approved foods purchase and he seems rather chuffed that I'm embracing the budgeting - he's looking forward to seeing the haul too :)

I think that's my lot for today. Catch you all tomorrow, keep on at it DFWs!

    Afternoon everyone! :hello:

Gosh it's exhausting this MSE addiction of mine.

I managed to get a little work done last night and whilst doing so I was getting stuck into the ways quidco and topcashback work these days! It's all changed since I was around in '07! Gosh.

Anyhoo, I've now got passwords for those old accounts, and registered at Shopitize so when I'm out buying some of the catfood today I'll be picking up the instore items from all three of these which Bf and I will actually use - rather than spending ££ on stuff we don't want/need/like just to earn a smaller value of cashback.

Quidco does have some check-ins I can do, so that'll be fun, the ebay auction everyone was asking about has gone up to £10.50 over night and I may have managed to nab a bodyshop clitch (in the wee small hours of last night) paying only £4.99 on a £44.50 spend *fingers crossed*

Right-ho! I'd best be getting on and doing something or I'll be sat here all day, but my goodness there are far worse addictions than MSE :rotfl:

    Have a good one people!

  • Not feeling as anxious this week as I was last, the manic 'rush rush rush - oh no, there's not enough time to do everything so lets just sit and do nothing instead' feeling has gone and I'm feeling a bit more chilled.

This week I know I'm going slower but I feel I'm getting some things done. I've been waking up wanting to do do the housework and other little things which have been needing done for some time whereas I didn't a fortnight ago. Even if I am spending more time looking for money saving tips on MSE than spending hours working to earn a wage I'm still feeling better within myself. Calm I suppose. Although I do know I'll be up poop creek if I can't get back to earning again soon, but trying not to freak about it, y'know?

    Anyway

Today I got stuck into cashback. Over three different cashback sites I made a list of things which would normally be on the shopping list anyway and avoided buying just for the returns. Sixteen items in total coming to £23.80, two cashback sites tracked straight away (totaling £7.35) and credited the accounts. Once all three track that'll be £10.70 in cash back - for items I'd normally buy - fab.

I'm not going to go cashing out on any cashbacks because I'm planning on using them to help with the whole purchase neutral aim.

And now that's done and dusted there's some more housework I want to get done this evening then look over this week's budget so far. End of evening I think I'll probably spend some more time hanging around the grabbit board and MSE in general.

    Nighty night peeps x

I remember when I was at my peak of MSE necessity I did actually see it as a job. I may not have been "earning", but I was saving or reclaiming or making money somehow which in turn meant that the amount I needed to "earn" to survive reduced.

Of course, there is still need for an income, but don't fret about spending time *moneysaving* because it all comes down to the same objective in the end.

This is so true Hypno. So true. Spending time looking at ways in which I can save or claim back some pennies and pounds is all helpful in the long run. So it does take the edge off somewhat.

Plus, I think having the kitchen cupboards stocked to the gunnels helps my positive outlook. It's hard to be positive when the cupboards are bare. x

Anyhoo, today's ramble now follows :p

    Afternoon all! :hello:

So here's what I've been up to:

I jumped on a b*dyshop glitch with would have meant two lovely items for £4.99, but the order is still pending on account so not holding my breath there.

*Viking GCs are in the mail already - no sign of the n*ctar points showing up for it yet but really hoping they do otherwise Mum's getting two £15 One4All GCs for mothersday lol

*H*M code stacking allowed me to buy 2x guest towels, one shower towel and one tea towel - total RRP £14 for £7.60 delivered (now out for postage).

*La Red*ute bargain, bagged a pair of ladies knee high leather boots in the sale RRP£109 down to £26.16 posted. They may turn out to be too small for me but I think if that is the case then I should at least be able to recoup some of the spend by putting them on ebay. Hope it's not the case though, new footwear has been on the list for a while.

    Overall that's £63.76 of purchases I've made.
*My ebay auction is sitting at £46 with three days to go
*topcashback CB earnings, both pending and payable £27.96
    shopitize cashback - £3.75
Quidco - £0 yet as my last receipt is still pending

Total earned £77.71, Making the purchases neutral and leaving me £13.95 in the black.

    :j

Frustratingly though I did a big shop yesterday which included the cats tins of food for this entire month and some other home necessities. I had planned it all correctly (or so I thought) for a nice APG return of around £10 on a £30 shop but I fell foul of the T&Cs and missed out by being one item light in the basket. Never mind! Lesson learned for next time.

Righty ho. I'd best be getting a move on.

Have a great day DFW's, geep on going! x

Wow, I am so impressed by all of this, despite you being caught out by the terms and conditions.

I was never very good at taking advantage of all the glitches/bargains/free money available, and was always rather in awe of people like you and hypno, who were like financial Sherlocks. :D

You have a great day too, and a great weekend.

I think I've just been lucky really Snaggles. But I do love learning new things, tips and tricks - I have a wealth of information which never gets used but the important stuff tends to slip my mind all too often.... probably why I'm still a DFW :rotfl:

Well, I didn't expect it, but the b*dyshop glitch arrived today! Just as well because I REALLY needed some new products for my skin so super pleased that these were snaffled for a mere £4.99.

And they even sent a free sample of hair butter with the order too. I think if I post images of glitch, MOC, discount code and cashback items in my diary then I'll have some way of recording what I'm doing and where the £s are going. It's easy to buy things, set them down once the packaging is open then have them blend into the house and end up not being used. So, yeah, I hope this'll help me stop from going OTT.

Had a peek at the grabbit board this morning when I woke up. I bought two pairs of knitted slipper boots from B*ots.com reduced to £5 each from £16 or 2 for £6. I'll be putting those aside for my BFs mum and auntie this coming Christmas. I LOVE that I'm putting things away for Christmas already because I get the winter blues REALLY badly, get withdrawn, angsty et so anything to help take the stress off that time of year. Got a large box under my bed for Christmas/birthday bargain buys to be laid aside. Sorted :)

Anyways I need to get a move on. Going to make a list of things I need from a*da, mostly fruit and veg (I'll see if I can't work a APG in there somewhere too) I'm making sausage casserole for dinner for BF and I tonight so need the essentials. Might pick up some bits to make various sauces too so I can batch cook then freeze.

And naturally I'll be having a womble around the carpark before I head home lol.

Laters folks, have a great weekend! xx
