Are they perhaps saying that they will issue a refund now & calculate that you will have used £30 by the time your moves arrives?
If you think not I suggest you put it in writing, stating that you expect to pay for what you have used upto date of moving and not a penny more. I can see no reason that they could justify keeping your £30 if you haven't used it.0 -

If you call on the day you move out with meter readings they should be able to refund you the credit - however the credit will remain on the meter and will need to be recovered from the next tenant after they have used it.
The £30 thing is odd - if you have £50 on the meter then refunding it all is more than £30 so should be ok, but leaving £30 on the meter means refunding £20 which is less than £30.
If a refund is due, it is all due - if they are keeping any of it back as them to explain why in writing.0 -
