Elephant renewal versus online price.

Daughter's renewal is up again, a few pence short of £888, granted she managed to hit someone up the rear last year, total cost £1000 for own and TP damage, and bonus back from 60% to 40% (I guess). Bless the TP, no injury and no courtesy car claim - possibly the best bloke you could choose to hit.

Online quotes show elephant at £530 ish.

Admiral rang, asking if they could help to get costs down (they were really trying to get the whole family on board with their multi car wotsit, never got very far as hubby is on a Motor Trade policy), when I asked why the increase, they gave me the standard blurb, never mentioned the claim, but mentioned the EU Gender Directive bollox.

I know a few on here have slagged me off for dealing with my daughters insurance, as she is an adult dontcha know, but as insurance is my job I get lumbered with these things.

Will be interesting to know if I can reduce £888 to £530 with a cheeky phone call.

Will report back soonish.

You definitely should be able to. I've never heard of an insurer not matching.. well, their own quote?

Yep, if i can save £300+ in 10 minutes, doesn't that put me on a par with what Paul McCartney earns per minute?

I had a dealing with Admiral recently. They had auto-renewed on me without any notification/warning, so I phoned them to get it sorted as soon as I noticed my bank account.

On this occasion, despite a lengthy phone-call and a lot of messing about with 2 separate policies (Admiral + Elephant) and switching NCDs from one to another, they still weren't competitive. I ended up moving elsewhere this time.

    Good luck!

admiral have always pricematched themselves and elephant
just call renewals, give the ref number of the other quote, they check its like for like, and will either match or in my case, actually beat it,
been with them for 5 years now despite having someone write my car off (no loss of no claims as not my fault) and an uninsured driver rearending the replacement car (notification only), been cheapest by £400-500 on renewals compared to other companies

Yep! the £530 quote was past the sell by date, but got £888 down to £675, they even price matched a quote with a £500xs to the current policy with a £400xs.
