Nexus 7 keeps freezing?

Hi all, I have had my nexus 7 32GB for a few months now but am finding it keeps freezing on me. Its done it since I first got it but is getting more and more frequent now.
I have updated the Jellybean software when the updates have become available, but without effect. Initially it was usually caused by the facebook official app so I now access it via the web browser rather than the app, which isn't as bad. Now it just seems to happen randomly and the only way to access my tablet again is to force it to close and then restart it again after a few minutes.
Does anyone know if this is a recognised problem with the Nexus 7? Or has anybody else had a similar problem? Is there a way to solve it?
I'm on the verge of returning it for a refund and buying an iPad instead.

Try disabling currents from syncing all the time that's what worked for me0

if that doesn't work uninstall some or all your Apps
As a last resort do a factory reset in settings0 -
Without knowing what apps might be on there and what they are doing it's difficult to definitively answer. I notice you said you have installed all updates, does this include 4.2.2 that was released last week as it has been pushing out over the last week to Nexus devices.
Do you notice the issue after you perform certain tasks or use certain apps? Is it a full freeze of the device or just some occasional lag? Incidentally I use the Facebook app on mine occasionally without any issue.
One thing that you may try is holding the power button for 20-30 seconds. This does a soft reset of the Nexus 7. As a last resort you could perform a factory reset.0 -

please report if any of the above cured the prob???0 -
Hi, sorry for the delay in responding, I had to work late today.
I have disabled Google currents as suggested. Yes, I did install the update 4.2.2 when it asked. it doesn't appear to be any particular app that causes it, and to be honest I don't use many really- I did install a few when I first bought the nexus but found the android appstore to be sadly behind in offerings so don't use many and have since uninstalled quite a few.
It hasn't frozen since then, but when it does, the only way I can rescue it is to do a soft reset, although sometimes not even that has any effect. Then the only thing that helps is a full rest.Halifax Credit Card: [STRIKE]£4915[/STRIKE] NEXT Directory: [STRIKE]£1980[/STRIKE]JD Williams: [STRIKE]£1984[/STRIKE] British Gas: [STRIKE]£394[/STRIKE] First Direct [STRIKE]£2985[/STRIKE]Debt-free for over 2 years now!!! :j0 -
Be worth a factory reset and run with no apps for a few days to see if its the add on apps .
Android app store ??? you should have Google Play app store available .

If you've already done a factory reset and you're sure it's nothing that could be being restored from your Google account (it does this automatically if not disabled during the inital 'Welcome' process after you sign in) then you could just have the unfortunate luck of having a bad one and it may need replacing under warranty. If you want to try not restoring from your Google account the option is in Backup & Reset within Settings.0 -
Thanks all, it seems the problem has now stopped. I disabled Google currents from automatic syncing as suggested and also deleted a few other apps that I no longer use and it appears to have helped- the tablet hasn't frozen since.
JJ Egan- yes, I have the Google play . I mistakenly referred to it as the android appstore, as a generic term for the store to buy apps available for the android operating system (as opposed to the amazon appstore or the apple appstore).
