While out today visiting the mammogram van which was parked outside Mr T - I popped in.
I had a gift card - courtesy of a complaint so didn't spend any GC cash. :j I got 5 x custard powder, 4 kg bag of dog meal biscuits, 2 x cheese spread and 2 x water biscuits. :j Every little helps. :rotfl:
We had roast chicken, sage/onion stuffing, roast potatoes, roast parsnip, asparagus, leeks, onions and gravy for dinner today.
Mr F found some cooked chicken in the freezer - we have worked out - must have come from a DD when she borrowed space in there.I never leave the skin on my chicken - this still had it's on. The skin came straight off - so fattening.
So not paying for the chicken was a bonus. :j

I have decided I am a big fan of going to the supermarket at night. Just picked up the following which will help with meals next month a fair bit:
2 lots of prawns, reduced from £2.99 to 74p.
2 lots of plaice fillets (2 each) reduced from £3.39 to 74p
2 lots of trout fillets (2 each) reduced from £2.99 to 74p.
Overall I spent £20.30 which is higher than I anticipated but I'm still well under budget and did my saddo trick of putting stuff back out of my trolley before I went through the checkout. I bought fresh fruit (expensive blueberries/strawberries and pineapple even tho some were Basics range) dog treats, bread, margerine, squash, Basics lettuce, honey, etc. I decided against any cereal bars as were twice the price of 99p Store. Next month I'm going to give making flapjacks for lunchboxes instead a go.
I really hope to come in at under £150 for the month, we'll see.
Thanks for listening to me ramble on and thanks for the continued inspiration x0 -
Evening All
Popped in to Mr S on way home for Easter Egg each for DS and DD before they all sell out, DS wanted C*dbury Creme Egg one and DD wanted C*dbury Caramel Egg. Got both, and on offer at 99p each. Also bought 2 x Mr S brand shower gel for £1.50 and a Mr S Family Apple Shampoo £1.25 and Apple Conditioner £1.25, each 1 litre bottles so should last a while.
Was £5.98, but used instant reward from Nectar card points worth £5 so only spent £0.98. Don't earn many nectar points so not worth saving for other rewards. Have updated signature.
Still hopeful that will keep within budget and with stocks at good levels.

Hi,
Don't know if I've signed up yet, but if I have't, I've just started our March budget of shopping!!
I'll update my signature in a min, but as it stands March (15th-14th Apr) is £168.99/£300.
I know this is rather a lot, but I've bought meat from the butchers in the freezer for the next 2 sunday dinners, including some steaks and proper minced beef! Lets hope I can stay under budget this month. When it's dark, look for stars. When it's raining look for rainbows.

I have actually managed 3 NSD's!!!!
We did a £60 shop in A's on sat. I didn't want to buy potatoes then as they tend to sprout if not used in a few days. So popping to T's today for white potatoes, sweet potatoes, milk and anything else we need for the next few days. Will go back on sat or sun for the extras for a roast dinner. Bought a chicken 2 weeks ago in M's when they were half price but will pots veg and basic yorkshires to go with it0 -
€494.79/€560!!!
It's all gone disastrously wrong this month after a brilliant month in February. I don't know why the spending has gone wild. I'll have to do a serious stock check of the cupboards before the final weeks shop. But as I'm making lunch for 13 next Sunday it's a unrealistic dream that I'll be in on budget.0 -

I've yet to find veg meatballs that I like. Either the texture is good but the aftertaste is odd, or the taste is good but the texture is disgusting. It's entirely killing my hopes for an Ik3a style meatball dinner at home0
