switching supplier

my current deal is due to finish 30th march 2013.when can i apply to a new supplier

    Similar Q: Mine finishes on 31 Mar 13 with penalty for early release (Sc Power); that said it takes 4-6 weeks to change supplier so how do you know when exactly to change as you can't stipulate the first day of supply when joining? i just signed up for Spark energy having registered with the MSE cheap energy club and should save a fair amount each month due to it but don't want to now be shot in the foot with a charge. I have just given both Sc Power and Spark Energy written direction not to cease or commence my contract until after 31 Mar 13...is this enough/will this work???
