Transfer credit card limit to new card?

Im just wondering if anyone knows if banks would transfer the credit limit on one card to another?
I bank with Natwest and have done for years, they've been pretty generous with the credit they've given me, £2k overdraft limit (£1K of that is interest free at present) and I had a £500 limit credit card.
Ive now been accepted and received a £1100 limit rewards credit card.
There is only a 1% interest difference between the two cards - although I pay in full each month anyway, but obviously if the new card is a rewards card it makes more sense to use that instead, which means I cant see myself using the old card unless I actually have to.
Does anyone know if I can effectively close my £500 card and just get them to up my new card balance to £1600 or would they not do this?
I asked their online chat but they said Id have to phone them, Ive spent ages on hold and I wont be able to get to the branch until the weekend.
Thanks

MBNA used to do this apparently, not heard of other providers allowing it but you never know.0 -

You can only ask, but don't ask them to close it first as no guarantees they add it on - make it a condition that they transfer the credit before closing it. They may be able to tell you but iit will be another phonecall rather than branch visit.0
