Tenerife for Christmas?

Options
Has anyone been during Christmas week? Was there anywhere open to eat on Christmas day at all please?

What was the weather like in South Tenerife during Christmas time? Is it burning heat weather, or a bit cooler?

Sorry for all the questions. Planning that Santa brings us tickets for 2014 Christmas to go, but just checking Tenerife is the best Christmas place to go really :)

Many don't think it's hot enough and choose Sharm El Sheikh.

We have been first week in January an weather was fine. 20C Factor 6 needed during the day, light cardi at night.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

We had Mid 20s in Madeira over Christmas, exactly the same in Sharm the year after. I doubt you would have a problem finding restaurants open.
  • Great thank you all :) Will keep my eye open for prices in Sharm el sheikh too as seen a lovely hotel out there too :)
  • When I went in December it was 18-20C, so nice enough, but not really pool/beach weather as far as I'm concerned, better off with Sharm or maybe even somewhere like Goa.

plenty of places to eat and drink open in Tenerife, pretty much everywhere in the tourist areas.
It's warm enough for me, it was 26 on boxing day a couple of years ago when I was last there at Christmas.
Last Christmas day the mean temp was 20 with a high of 24
Not sure I'd risk booking to go to Egypt at the moment, not particularly bothered from a safety POV just that the situation there could escalate meaning the loss of the holiday and the need to claim.
If the Canaries aren't warm enough for you, - as above - maybe look at Goa?

I don't go for christmas, love it at home with the family. My friend goes out for 4 weeks always going around the 13th dec, yes everywhere is open, but if you want christmas dinner (traditional english)it is best to book if you want a nice restaurant.

We always fly out on the 27th or 28th dec for 2 weeks over new year, already got next new years flights booked.

This year was lovely during the day, was in the sea or pool each day, it's warm, and lovely enough to walk around in shorts and t-shirts.
We have never had bad weather.

Night time is a bit cooler, i always take a lightweight cardigan or fleece out with me, some nights i need it, others i end up carrying it around all night.

    Great thank you :)

We went to Tenerife in may twice now and some nights i don't need a cardi, others i did. Looking at the average temp between May and Dec its only 2c so fingers crossed it will be lovely. I will still be keeping my eye on Sharm though as we have never been and would be a good time to go too!

I have always loved my Christmas at home with the kids, but for some reason i have got to a point where i just wished Santa would send us all away for a week, rather than it all be done in 1 day lol.
  • Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria is still very hot (hottest part of GC) at Christmas and is good fun. Maybe a little cooler at night. Not Tenerife I know but my pennyworth!
