How much did your reception venue cost?

Options
Hi,

I am pricing around for a wedding reception venue (in Northern Ireland) and am shocked at some of the prices. I just wondering Is this normal?

....is what normal? Hard to say if something is normal when we don't know what sort of prices you're talking! :)

Mine is VERY expensive but that is not the norm for most people on these boards...

£2,500 for our venue, with room & connecting private bar, bucks fizz, wedding breakfast, toasts, evening buffet.

That was in a Barcelo hotel in 2010.

About £50 - £55 a person (Including Drinks reception, canapes, Full 5 course meal with wine, open toast and evening buffet)

I loved it - our guests had spent a fair bit travelling as my husband isn't local and has family all over the country so we thought we would push the boat out and treat them as well as we could.

PS meant to say - I am from NI too (although wedding reception was in the South).

NI prices do seem to be higher than Britain.

£3,000 minimum spend on a Friday.

So we used up all 3k on drinks, food, room and ceremony fees.... Some would say it could have been done cheaper than 3k but it was a citycentre venue and it included everything.

Now Mrs! Still mum though.... :D

Firstly someone has now started a wedding thread on Northern Ireland board.Perhaps you should post on NI thread. On I am from NI and only by chance seen your post.

Secondly be careful were you pick as some hotels have so many strict rules it's unbelievable. Galgorm Manor is beautiful but the price to hire Grand ballroom is at least £1000 and then you are not allowed to use your own suppliers. Then there's Corrick House another fantastic spot but again not allowed to use own suppliers its there are nothing. Then there's some hotels and they have a minimum number fRIDAY - Sunday. How many guests are you having and what County would you like to hold reception?

Ok, I am thinking I need to give the other end of the spectrum in case OP is panicking seeing all these (relatively) lowish numbers. My venue is £197 a head....

Everyone has diferent budgets, and what may be low-cost to one couple, may be a budget breaker to another :)
  • We're £2000 for 50 day guests (3 course meal, drink, room hire, dj & evening buffet incl). That's quite a good deal for Edinburgh though!
