Seriously, please stop spouting drivel. Windows owns no part of the bios and has no relation to its operation period. the ONLY thing which may have changed is if the laptop is a new OEM laptop then the windows 8 key will be built into the BIOS. that's it.

There is still no evidence to suggest it is a win8 laptop. It's very likely that he received a free upgrade to win8 since his purchase (similar to what HP were doing) if you bought a win7 laptop within the last year.0

Apologies, I thought that was established. It is a W8 laptop, never had W7 installed. Also UEFI.0 -
