Internet dongle for Mallorca

I shall be in Mallorca for a month later in the year and would like to have internet access.

Can anyone recommend me the best way to get this as I am not very net/travel savvy! It is just for use with a laptop and possibly xbox live.

I don't know whether it is best to buy a dongle when I get there or if I am better off doing it another way.

Thanks

Whereabouts are you going, if its one of the resorts then there will be free wifi in loads of places.

As cmw1212 says, first check if wifi will be available.

If not, I'd recommend buying a Dongle / Mifi / phone with tethering here (it's cheaper, and you'll have a chance to get it working before you go) and getting it unlocked. Check how easy it will be to unlock before you buy.

Once you get to Spain you'll have to find a good network for PAYG data use. Yoigo used to be a good bet, but I haven't done it for ages. Don't forget to check coverage in Mallorca.

Yes I know, but as we are renting a villa, really wanted wifi there.

Thanks, please excuse my ignorance but what is 'tethering'?

As an alternative to using a Dongle, you can get a smartphone to share its internet connection with laptops and other devices, either via a USB cable, or via Bluetooth, or by having the phone create a wifi hotspot. This is known as Tethering. That way you'd get a phone and internet connection in one. I'd recommend using an Android phone as it will be much harder to get it all working with an iphone.

If you don't already have a suitable smartphone, a dongle will be cheaper. For example (may not be the cheapest available):

If that all sounds too technical, you might be better off just getting one in Spain, for example: https://tienda.yoigo.com/selforder/moviles/modem-usb-zte-mf668a-pre#postpaid_mnp
