Online tariffs dual fuel - currently with EON
Options
I'm currently with eon and tbh just recently I've had a few small issues
Their website and app never work right all the time. I've had to phone to submit readings. Ok not a massive issue but its an online account and online doesn't always work
Their not the cheapest, around my area, first utility, sainsburys utlity, SSE, Scottish power and EDF work out between £80-110 a year cheaper based on my usage. Which of these are the worth while ones to switch too?
Are smart meters worth having on both gas and electricity?
And would Eco 7 work out cheaper still for me as I work 3 shifts so on certain weeks
Thanks in advance

"Would ECO7 work out cheaper?
To benifit from ECO7 tariffs you must have an ECO7 meter which delivers cheap power overnight - Generally, these are only viable if your home is all Electric and fitted with Storage heaters and an Immersion heated water storage tank - Even so, they require careful management as their Daytime power is expensive, so running W/machines & D/washers overnight becomes a way of life - If you have Gas CH, ECO7 really isn't the way to go.
So far your supplier list is concerned, all suppliers have their problems, but I personally would avoid First Utility
Look at the post "First Utility stopped billing for a year" which is on this Page at present, but may have moved to Page 2 in a few hours0 -
Ok thanks that strikes Eco 7 off the list, thanks
Is it worth switching supplier based on cost alone? I was quiet happy paying the little extra when I first went with eon as I thought the online service worked well. I know all suppliers will have their issues but as a trade off against price it's a chance I'd take to potentially save upto £100 a year. Reading Internet reviews on them all you have to take on the chin I suppose0 -
I was with E.On until last year. I found their on line system the best of all the suppliers I have used over the past 10 years being a regular switcher. Easy to use and everything presented simply in front of you. I only changed because their prices had simply become ridiculous. I am now with EDF and their on line system is pretty pathetic but I keep tabs on my usage with a spreadsheet so I can input the readings and see exactly where my account stands. If I don't give them a reading they won't be inclined to mess around with my DD , with E.On you can manipulate the DD system to your advantage unlike most.0

Good thinking never thought of doing that, eon seem to charge what they want wen if your £100 in credit, I see how you did that though, keeping your records and sending in basically an average for the whole year. Keeping the cost the same still getting the DD discount.
I'm sure with a well set up excel doc that could work with any supplier though?
Is your recommendation to switch to something cheaper then even if their online setup isn't as good?0
