Guarantees and registering a product

Does a product have to be registered with the manufacturer for the guarantee to be honoured?
I have a 5 year guarantee on my fridge, It's just coming up to almost 4 years and one of the door hinges has broken and the other sounding like it will go the same way any day now.
We were moving house and having it refurbished at the time, my late husband purchased all the applicances locally, the builders unpacked and installed them. I don't seem to be able to find out whether any of the products were registered, the hob definitely wasn't because I have the form you need to send off in with the paperwork, and I suspect that none of the others were either.
Should the manufacturer still honour the guarantee and send someone out? It's five years parts and labour so I'd rather they sorted it free of charge than me have to pay for new hinges and get them fitted.

It all depends on the terms of the guarantee.
As a manufacturer's guarantee is in addition to your statutory rights, and the manufacturer does not have to provide a guarantee, they can state whether or not you have to register the appliance.0
