If trading it in, get the tyre fitters to fit some borderline legal tyres they have yet to have disposed and keep your winter tyres :D

The wheels might not fit on the hub though so might want to check that otherwise some new wheels might be needed.

Dont think the OP mentioned wheels, just putting the current winter tyres on to the hyundais wheels which shouldnt be a problem

I'm with you on this one ;)
  • Amazed so many insurers want to know about winter tyres! Seems a waste of time to me.

Unless that tyres are a different size or load/speed rating I can't see why they would need to be informed at all.

Its not the tyres that they want informing about its the wheels. Are you fittiing non standard wheels. Thats the insurance issue.

3mm difference between the 2 tyre sizes mentioned. Fitting the 155 tyres will put the speedo out though. You will be going faster than the speedo reading for the 165 tyres.
It will overread by... 0.5mph :)

The issue as mentioned maybe fitting 155 tyres to the standard rims.

fitting a larger diameter tyre will make the speedo under read more. As all speedos over read by varying margins, the speedo, in this case, will be more accurate.

    Thanks for the info.

Yes we do still have the summer tyres and they will be going back on the Peugeot. The winter ones will be stored if they are suitable for the Hyundai and if not, we will sell them.

No new wheels required, just swap of the tyres.

Re replacing with older tyres, sorry would feel guilty doing this, even if annoyed at trade in price.
