There's a strong implication there. If he can't add his name to the deeds, they won't be buying it.
so what? it's an implication, people are making assumptions that are irrelevant to his question. The OP just wants to know if he can put his name to the property. The rest is just his business.

Years ago, we thought about buying my mum's council house for her but decided against it at the time. Mum managed to live on her own (with minimum, unwelcome assistance) till she was more than 90. She is now almost 96 and in a council care home as she has dementia. They take all of her income bar £20 or so per week, quite rightly. There would have been no advantage to her if she had bought the house all that time ago. She had the security of knowing she could live there as long as she needed to, all her repairs got done and we got to keep the money we would have given her to buy the house.

Property has devalued anyway since we considered buying it for her so it was the best decision all round. A young family now benefit from getting her council house so no regrets.

Thanks for the feedback. My parents will certainly look into making the application, so thanks for the constructive feedback.

As to put the assumptions to bed, I'm not doing this to make some money, I simply want my parents to retire in the house they have made home and love. There are of course pro's and cons to buying, I was just checking to see if its worth their while, I would merely be helping them out financially, like they did to me for so many years

This is the most sensible and constructive post I have seen on this thread, if not the whole forum, for a long time.

Your problem is that you initially said:

"however I would like to purchase it (along with my parents), "

You didn't say "I would like to help them purchase it",

    they are different.
