I dunno what nationwide are playing at, i applied 2 weeks ago for a classic card as i'm going to the states on the 5th of MAY.

It is supposed to be an instant decision, well it wasn't, i got the we will contact you in 5 working days, well 2 weeks on and nothing!
I must of tryed 5 times yesterday on the phone and twice far this morning and after holding for over 10 minutes on every occasion i've given up :(

How do these places stay in business! i mean this is the sales line, not the "existing customer" line, we've come to expect reduced service to existing customers these days but usualy sales are on the ball....

i'm bl00dy anoyed! I'm tempted to apply for the Liv Vic card, but would prefer not to waste my NW credit check, assuming they bothered to do one

2 weeks isn't long to wait for a card. I'd give it a few more days - it's an excellent card for overseas use.

The decision should be near instant and say 10 days for the card (thats how long Halifax take for the One card)

An instant decision can't always be given, there are a number of things that can trigger manual underwriting, however, if they said five days I'd have hoped you'd have had something by now. You could try and contact them again by phone or perhaps through their website: http://www.nationwide.co.uk/communications_centre/ContactUs_form.asp

Don't get me started on Nationwide credit cards!

I applied for their cashback reward card online at the end of feb but 3 weeks into March I still hadn't heard whether I'd been accpeted or not.

I decided to go into a branch to enquire. I was told I had been accepted and that there was just one or two more things to be done at their end before their could send me out an agreement to sign.

More days passed and still nothing so I rang their call centre and was told my agreement had been sent out 'weeks' ago but I hadn't returned it. I told them I had never recieved any agreement and that what they were saying totally contridicted what I'd already been told in branch.

They just said they'd sent out another copy of the agreement and sure enough a few days later it landed on my doormat. So some 6 weeks after I applied I finally got my card.

However, I'm still arguing with them oabout the level of cashback I'm entitled to but that's a whole different story!!
  • it's not because you wait for too long, it's because you've tried too many times. I too can wait for a long time but I can't stand up fail too many times.
