I did warn you about the pillows!

Seriously though, just because it's free is no excuse for getting stuff you don't need. I'm sorry to get mardy, but nobody seems to have read my post from earlier on <throws a strop :D >

I can see the funny side and I'm glad that most people seem to have ordered stuff for children or their kitchen that will actually be used but anyone who says "dunno what I'll do with it, but at least it was free!" is getting a virtual spanking with recyclable, organic twigs. ;)

So I shouldnt really have got a candle because I dont actually need it??? I do after all have electric lighting in my home!! What about the spaghetti measurers? Surely no one 'needs' one of those. You just remember how much you cooked last time, and if there was loads left over you cook less next time, or if your husband and 2 of your 4 kids had bolognese sauce but no spaghetti last time you know you need to cook more blooming spaghetti in future!!! (of the organic variety....obviously)

Sorry...but if we only ever got a freebie because we needed it, well, the vast majority of us would never use the freebies board at all.
Well done to all those who got something....if it made you smile and brightened you day a little....then that is need, and excuse, enough in my opinion!! ;)

I feel a virtual spanking coming my way!!! :rotfl:

My orginal post said if you really fancy it that's fine, it's just the people who feel they HAVE to get something cos it's free..

Believe me, if I wanted a tiny pillow :D or some gloves or a handbag I'd have ordered one!

I did fancy a spaghetti measurer but I'll tell you now that 80g per person should work so if you have scales you've got no excuse! :p

And an average size mug full of uncooked rice equals approx enough cooked rice for 2 people :p (no idea what it would weigh though, I dont have any kitchen scales!!!)

Seriously though, I wasnt having a dig, I just feel that life is too short, and John Lewis are too loaded, for anyone to feel guilty about getting their mitts on a teeny pillow/smelly candle/14 pairs of slippers/3 pack of kids pants/pasta measurer/whatever, for nothing. (Obviously not ALL of all the above though....thats just greedy :p )

Brilliant - thank you so much to the OP - 2 lots of "pop socks" delivered to Mum and Auntie and a baby's jellycat toy to my house, all delivered for £1.95! £17.95 worth of goods for £1.95! Can't get better bargain hunting than that.
Nice Shoes & Expensive Designer Handbags, are my downfall!
