hinge on laptop screen broken at one side help?

hi, we bought our son a reconditioned laptop from ebay for part of his xmas. trouble is the hinge has popped out at one side of the screen. the screen is now only connected on one side. can this be fixed - if so any ideas how? will we need to get a computer fixer or can we do it ourself? if we need to hire an expert does anyone have any idea how much this will cost?

it is not under guarantee and it is a dell laptop. my son is basically scared to use it incase it gets worse.

many thanks

Is it broken, or popped out? There are usually two screws under the bottom that hold the hinges to the case, be careful not to damage the small bundle of wires which connects the screen to the motherboard, if you damage that, you may as well bin it.

The service manual will be on the Dell website,

check on ebay for the hinge .Be carefull as some sellers are based in Hong kong and charge a lot for P&P.
I just bought a compaq nc4010(have a reputation for hinges breaking)and bought a replacement set for about £19.00 .Not to hard to fit .maybe 30 minutes work ...Hardest bit ...taking plastic cover off the front of the screen.
is this the item . http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Dell-C600-Hinges-Left-Right-With-Plastic-Covers_W0QQitemZ290085390324QQihZ019QQcategoryZ31569QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
