Really strong clothes pegs advice

  • Just a thought but is your line fairly new? My DD got a new line and it's much thinner than mine, her pegs don't grip very well on a windy day either, whatever type she uses.

I also had problems with pegs coming off on a windy day, but I recently had to get a new line when mine broke (full of washing too  but fortunately dry so a dust down did the trick:o). I made sure the new line was thicker than the old one and it works a treat now.
  • Try the new goods section in Oxfam shops. I bought 1 24pack of the Ecoforce Recycled Hurricane force pegs for £1.49.

Hi, what you need is either storm pegs (they are different to hurricane pegs) or a thicker washing line so the pegs gets a better grip. When using storm pegs make sure you push them all the way down. There's nothing better than storm pegs for very windy conditions.

This is what storm pegs look like.

  • I know it may seem bleedin' obvious but are you really pushing the pegs on hard?I got my hubby to hang stuff out the other day and when I came to bring them in I found he had only just put them on til they clipped whereas I really force them on further so they aren't going anywhere.
  • Hi,

I have just bought these from a company in Scotland. They are made of stainless steel, extremely strong & come with a lifetime warranty.
    Google
    exquisitescotland.
I am well pleased with my purchase, visit the website & read the reviews.

If you have a thin washing line like me (on a rotary) try pegging items on 2 lines together, takes up more line but does the trick for me! Hope this helps.

I use stainless steel pegs a friend gave me. I think she got them from a company in Scotland. They really are excellent and come with a lifetime guarantee. Even my 6 year old son cannot break them and he breaks everything! The washing never slides down the line, and when the last of my plastic ones wear out I'm going to order some more.
The company selling these is called Exquisite Scotland...and who's name shows on the website? You've guessed it -K Thomson.
