    Hi Debbie,
Do you have eBay? Theres alot floating around on their, let it be bidding or buying.
Better to understand a little than to misunderstand a lot.

Before splashing out money on Microsoft office give Libre Office a try.

It's free software and all 'Save As' settings can be set to default to MS standards.

I've used this (and previously Open Office on which it is based) for years without any problems. I work for a major UK charity and they send me a spreadsheet in MS xls format which I complete and return to them having updated using Libre Office.

Similarly all documents, powerpoint presentations etc work fine.

Yes, it's free and you don't get hassled with any messages to buy. Quite a few people on this site recommend it and a new version has just been released.

Outlook online is a web based email client. Office have Outlook mail, which is merely just a different way to read the web based mail (its not overly easy to setup either to be honest.

Office 2010 is better than 2007, the tabs are the same, except for some reason things are actually where you expect them to be.

Office versions can be installed on any version of Windows, so if you can get 2010 in budget I'd recommend it.
