    Yeah, defo a good idea.

If you do do this though make sure you slightly change your DOB as well otherwise you might inadvertently create an Alias on your credit file.

Some insurers do their credit search for quotation purposes, rather than to establish whether or not they will let you pay monthly. as some (mistakenly or otherwise) see lending risk as being related to insurance risk.

They also need to check for CIFAS (fraud) markers and public (court) information on your credit file.

    .

I doubt they can create an alias against your file using a false name and correct date of birth as this will cause issues for twins, as i'm sure individual twins will have different credit files :)

If you use a fake name then is there a risk of some lenders not providing quotes if they cannot locate an individual?

Not sure whether some lenders won't provide quotes if they cannot find an indvidual. I get decent amount of quotes returned using my fake profile so haven't seen this as an issue and if they don't want to provide a quote not to fussed, they don't get my business :)

It does cause issues for twins all the time, when they live at the same address ;)

    Hi all,

I have similar issue with TENS OF SEARCHES PER DAY by Lexisnexis Risk Solutions UK Limited.

I raised multiple disputes via Noddle.co.uk and their resolutions are controversial. Some of the disputes were resolved positively and I received a letter confirming they will be removed from my history and some with email with a link to dispute page saying:

Unfortunately your dispute has been unsuccessful as the organisation has not agreed to make changes to your credit file. Please refer to the correspondence you will receive from our Customer Services Team for details.

    Raised on 26/04/2014
Search company Lexisnexis Risk Solutions Uk Limited
Search unit Insurance Quote - Www.Lexisnexis.Com/Ukconsumer

Besides I wrote to customer.services@lexisnexis.co.uk they failed to explain why would they do 27 searched a day rather than doing it once and feeding back to others.

To me it looks like inefficient search algorithm (provided by Lexismexis) used by car insurance comparison sites and we should some how influence them to check it and make it more efficient rather than filling our credit files with rubbish.

Should we do a petition tell BBC Watchdog?
    Any other suggestions?

As others have suggested here, when obtaining quotes you are well advised to start with bogus - but realistic - information (you'll still get nearly 100% response on the comparison sites). Only when you're ready to do business should you furnish genuine details to your chosen supplier.
  • Couldn't find a more applicable section for this...
How about The Credit File & Ratings Board? :)

I don't think that board existed when this thread was created?;)

LexisNexis offer services to the insurance industry; they are a data processor only. This means they act only under the instructions of the insurer or broker - not independently.

LexisNexis facilitates the exchange of information that the insurer or broker has requested from a credit reference agency (Callcredit, Experian, Equifax). LexisNexis is simply a tool in the middle that helps the insurer or broker access the data held by the credit reference agency. LexisNexis cannot make changes to your credit file which is held by the credit reference agency. Only the credit reference agency can amend or delete the search on your credit file. By the way, it is classed as a 'soft search' and so should not affect your credit rating.

You can use https:// uk-insurance. custhelp. com to direct any enquiries to LexisNexis but remember that LexisNexis only facilitates the exchange of information between the insurer or broker and the credit reference agency. They do not have any authority to amend or delete any of the data. For that you need to contact the credit reference agencies directly:

    Callcredit phone: 0845 366 0071
    Experian phone: 0844 481 0800

Last note. LexisNexis is a huge organisation in the UK offering business information services. The email address you quoted is for the UK Legal business which might explain why you are not getting the information and help you would rightly expect.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I have exactly the same searches on my noddle report as the OP. I understand that they were probably caused by using a comparison website, but what I don't understand is why they keep appearing? My search history is empty, apart from these ~5 searches that keep appearing at roughly the same time each year, even though I'm using completely different providers for my insurance now.

Is there any way these can be stopped?

I also use fake names/details when looking for quotes, and only use real details when I know the exact deal I want to go for.
