PointPay Scam

In January I signed up to get an electric toothbrush for £1. It was done through the paidoffers.co.uk site and I was supposed to get a cash reward for responding to the offer. No toothbrush has ever turned up and a company called Point Pay based in Denmark have been taking £45 out of my bank account for VIP membership.
I have emailed them to ask why and apparently by ordering the toothbrush I agreed to a trial membership - no emails or details have ever been sent to me regarding this.
Having Googled this company it appears I am not alone.
Please avoid as it now looks like I have to cancel my debit card to prevent them taking any more money from me and I have been ripped off for £46.

Cancelling your debit card will not have the desired effect.

Stopping the card WILL NOT stop them from taking further payments.

I hope you have now cancelled the agreement with pointpay.
Also talk to your bank and make them aware of the situation.
How do I unsubscribe? (Termination of membership)
You can always cancel your running subscription, plus there is no further binding period. Termination can occur either through the self-service area on the website where you signed up, or by contacting our customer service at 0203 588 0269 on weekdays between the hours of 11am – 5pm. Please note that your subscription cannot be unsubscribed online within the first 24 hours after it is launched due to technical reasons. It can be done however by calling our customer service number.

If you terminate your subscription then no further payments will be raised, that is unless you choose to reactivate the subscription, or by creating a new subscription. The termination of the subscription does not affect the benefits that are enabled on your user account for the period that you have already paid for. The website will auto send an acknowledgment of your termination to the email address used when signing up. Non-receipt of acknowledgment does not affect the validity of the termination. It is solely the registration in the customer database as it is the customer's responsibility to have entered in the email address correctly and up to them to ensure that emails are not deleted or landing in a spam filter.

If you terminate your VIP membership, it is not the same as you deleting your user account. This must be done later if you do not want to remain a regular user on the website.

NB. Please note that it is NOT possible to unsubscribe per direct email, only through our customer service, either by phone or through written support directly on the website you signed up to, plus you can do it through the self-service on the website you’re signed up to or by contacting our customer service at 0203 588 0269 > or by contacting our customer service on 0203 588 0269

I am not sure what I accepted, and want to cancel (If you have completed a VIP subscription purchase, and are having doubts or second thoughts)
Your purchase of the VIP membership is accompanied by a withdrawal period of 14 days. You can only cancel your purchase if you have NOT used your subscription. You take your subscription in to use the moment you complete the purchase and log into the website you signed up on. If you want to use this right, you must immediately after purchase log off and not log on again. Then you should contact the customer service by telephone to inform them that you regret your purchase. You will then get your subscription canceled and receive a form which you must complete and return and then your money will be refunded. Since you have entered into an agreement for a subscription, it is only right to cancel this agreement and not in connection with the ongoing payment.

No thanks! (Termination of membership and information regarding the binding period)

Help. I too have signed up for this stupid toothbrush offer and now am waiting to be scammed by PointPay. I've tried calling the number but all I get are hours of recorded music and incomprehensible foreign messages - I've been unable to speak to anyone. My bank says it needs evidence that I've tried to cancel the agreement. Does anyone have an e-mail address for PointPay please? any advic gratefully received.

Write to your bank stating that you were signed up to this without being given full details and you have not authorised any further payments to this company. If the bank make any such payments, call to complain immediately and ensure you get a complaint reference number. If nbecessary escalate the complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service
