Which Car Insurance? Stuck!

This is my second year of driving, I have been with Admiral, but now am ready to change to cheaper options.

I have done a compare the market result, which the top ones are Hastings, Insurepink and quote me happy around the £400 mark.

There are a few other which are more but the top ones like Swift cover.

After reading various reviews on these companys it seems their all crap! so I want a good deal, but i don't want problems?

Oh and is insurepink only for women? (im male).

IMHO people are only going to post on a forum when something goes wrong so if you set your search engine to look for things about said companies then you will find in the majority bad things are said.
I read may scare stories about Hastings Direct, I have a personal (albeit second hand i.e. it didn't happen to me but I helped the person sort it out) account of Quote me happy being carp. Insure pink could well be for women but they are just the brokers for the policy and I don't see why they would not want your custom.

    Insure Pink are Hastings...
  • Oh, just want to know which is the best for cheapest. Insurepink are Hastings and is it that peoples choice are also? why are they operating under different names. This is a right hassle to just get some car insurance.

Its very difficult to tell people which insurers are good and which are bad as there are so many different opinions due to personal circumstances. IMO you have to decide

what cover you want (FC, TPFT, TPO)
whether you want to pay a voluntary excess in addition to any compulsory
whether you want add ons - legal cover, etc
whether you want to add any other drivers

You then have a look around for the best value based on those facts. If you don't want to do the legwork, then go see a motor broker who will often have access to other markets.

Bear in mind that no two risks are the same, so just because your mate pays X it doesn't mean your quote will be the same.

Read all of the documentation very carefully and if there are bits you are unsure of then post back and ask.

Unfortunately nowadays, the majority of people on here expect the best cover for little money. They then post back when a problem arises, often blaming the insurer. However had the purchaser read the documents (preferably before purchase) they would have known what their cover was and got no surprises!

In some cases there are justifiable complaints but largely it's down to individuals not understanding what they have bought!

I would suggest that is a little harsh. Insurers do not make it easy to compare. Cheapest is not always best. Some have hidden extra charges and will do their utmost to avoid / delay paying out.

  • The horror stories I read are down to the company's just simply not paying out, or details not given, wrong information, bad admin.

All I want, is an insurance company that follows the rules, does what they say they will and gets information right.

I don’t understand why this is so hard for them when they have the staff and a hell of a lot of money.

Admiral was unable to follow simple instructions of posting my documents or even an email, (2 months late) spelling my name correctly, returning calls.

In this day and age this should not happen.

I guess ill have to risk these things with whoever they are.
