TESCO'S HOME DELIVERY OUT OF DATE GOODS

I don't know if any other people that shop online with tescos have this problem but I'm so fed up with getting vegetables and fruit and fresh goods that are sent to me with the use by date as the day its sent. I have had to complain about this regular and it just doesnt get any better. Today I recieved an order that had 8 different veg that had this days date on and a cauliflower the size of a tennis ball. When I telephoned they just spoke to me as though I was trying to get somehing for nothing but I suppose this could have been because I have had to complain so many times before about this. I wouldnt complain if I didnt have to. I dont think we should accept this, as if these items were in store they would be on reduced or not sold at all so just because we cannot choose it seems we get the things they wouldnt be able to sell to people who can see them. I just want asda to start delivery service in my area then im gone from Tescos completely
Thanx

I used Tesco a couple of times and found the same problem. Stopped using them. I wonder if staff are instructed to do this to clear stocks.
I say what I like, I like what I say!
  • Also had the same problem with Tesco.Fresh products that i ordered, fruit, veg, cheese, yoghurts and my hubbys pork pies were out of date the day they were delivered or within 2 days. Not good enough,so after contacting them like yourself on numerous accassions and getting fobbed off i have taken my business elsewhere.
A big thumbs down to Tesco >:(

Yep, Tesco lost me as a customer for exactly the same reason. Almost every fresh item had a use by date of that day or the next. When I rang to complain I was told that ALL of their fruit and veg have a two day sell by date? Can anyone confirm this? How can anyone do a weeks shopping with such short dates????
  • I must admit I have had that problem too. I have complained and the cost of the items have been refunded.

Asda have just started to deliver in our area and they say that if you are not happy with the freshness of any product the will refund double what you have paid for that item!
Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.

I wonder if Tesco have a quality control problem as i've began to notice mouldy or unpleasant looking items on their shelves in store.

Last time I went they were reducing strawberries which were green with mould but still in date, several women pointed this out to the assistant who was marking them down and he just carried on re pricing them regardless. Today their 'fresh' potato croquettes which don't go out of date until tomorrow were also spotted with mould.

As for their delivery service, I used them once when I was totally housebound after a serious illness and so much was substituted or just didn't turn up that I never bothered again.

  • Just read your message about Tesco's. Don't know if they deliver in your area but Ocado - the people who deliver Waitrose goods - are excellent. I don't drive and use them all the time for home delivery. The sell by dates are nearly always as long as I need and the fruit and veg well in date. They are also polite and bring all the shopping into my kitchen for me. Try them if they deliver in your area - the cost difference on Tesco goods isn't worth it if all your food goes off! ;D
  • No, you are all not alone.
I used to live in Surrey and shopped at Tesco, I stopped as so much stuff went off before the sell by date.
I recently moved to Hertfordshire and did an order as I wasn't sure where the shops were and was having a BBQ.
I ordered loads of stuff to be delivered on the Saturday for the BBQ on Sunday, such as fresh burgers and sausages thinking I would freeze all I didn't use.
I couldn't keep any of it as it was all sell by the Sunday.
they did send me a questionairre asking how it was and I put freshness at Zero.
I wouldn't use them again, I find them really expensive too, no, thank goodness I found my local ASDA quick smart, loads cheaper.
    Waddle you do eh?

I have been in touch with Tesco Head office. Firstly they refused to comment due to the fact some issues may have been reported to the TS. I then recieved a further email form a second person at the company who advsed me that they certainly won't be registering on this site to make any comments. Tesco the invite still stands, you are welcome to explain yourself as this site as a massive following.

    Hi Blade_Runner
I agree Ocado are brilliant, there's rarely any substitutes and they quite often give free samples or free bottle of wine etc. And delivery is free if your order is over £75
