Sacked and no reply for appeal

Is it just me or is being disciplined for a bank card getting stuck in the conveyor belt a bit harsh?
they said n the CCTC it showed me helping the card down the conveyor but I have no recall of this. I have seen the CCTV and yes it does but as I was on medication and again my parents could verify all this I was acting odd0 -

It must have something to do with having money out on the shop floor. All monies should be held in the till at all times. Anything that's found outside the till could be classed as theft. But again in this situation it all seems a bit ridiculous.
op, the first post had some very sound advice in it. Id go from there.
in my meeting I told them I wasnt a thief they said they were not accusing me of being one0 -

Another issue im unhappy with is that while I was suspended after a week I received a phone call around 6pm one night. My employer said why hadnt I attended the meeting that afternoon. I said I wasnt aware that there was one. He said they had posted the letter and what wad said in the last meeting 2 days ago. I said I had not received anything. They rearranged the disclapinary however I got a card through the post from royal mail telling me I had a package to collect and pay for. When I went to the sorting office it was the letter and I had to pay 2 pounds for it.0

A copy of the disciplinary policy is important as it will help us to identify what they have to do with regards to any appeal - that's why you were asked the question.
However, if you have worked there less than a year, then even if they *did* reinstate you, they could dismiss you again anyway (as long as it doesn't breach your contract or the law).' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -

I'm inclined to agree with other posters that the incidents described probably wouldn't warrant dismissal for gross misconduct, which makes me think that perhaps there have been other things happening that either the OP isn't telling us about or isn't aware of (as in the case of the CCTV evidence of the card/conveyer incident).
OP, you mention you live at home with your parents, could they approach your employer on your behalf to try to get a better explanation of why you were dismissed?0 -

Okay. Then first of all you have no protection against unfair dismissal, I'm afraid. Only wrongful dismissal which occurs if they don't follow contractual procedure, for example.
If you were *only* sacked on the basis of the £10 then it doesn't sound like Gross Misconduct. However, they only need reasonable belief that you intended to take the money, and that in itself could lead to GM.
I think they probably sacked you for a number of reasons, mainly your absence, and used this incident as a way to get rid of you. Most managers who really wanted you there and believed your story wouldn't dismiss you as a result of this - so I would hazard a guess that they wanted you to leave. Even if you got your job back they could dismiss you for any other reason (with a few exceptions) within the next 18 months anyway.
If I were you, I would wait to hear about the appeal. But if I didn't hear back, rather than pursuing it, I'd let it go. What you could do is ask your manager to write you a neutral reference which doesn't say you were dismissed, nor for what reasons - I think that's the best you'll probably get from this. I think any ET claim which may occur from wrongful dismissal (and that's only a possibility without knowing if the procedure is contractual, which I doubt) would be detrimental to your health anyway.
I certainly wouldn't ask your parents to call your manager to get an explanation. I would get a copy of the disciplinary process, then decide whether to chase the appeal. And assuming nothing comes of it, ask your manager for a neutral reference.

When I was suspended the second time my dad took me to work and did a shop. When I came out in tears my dad went to see the manager he said we employe your daughter and nit you. I can assure you iam telling you everything im not hiding anything from you. My parents could help. I was hoping that the manager may come to our house when I wrote to them but not heard anything. Im sure if he listened to my parents he would get a better point of view. Im not a vocal person and have low self esteem so I do not voice my opinion very well.0
