Daughters had a new door and some bodywork on her citroen saxo car after someone went into it while parked.

She collects it from the garage this afternoon but the garage man said its a new door with new lock but she has the same key for all doors does that sound ok? It just sounded a bit strange to me, then it concerned me that it might be so easy to get keys for cars like that. Is it normal to change the door but it have a new lock but same key?
Thanx

Having one key for all doors is a good thing so he’s done you a favour.

There are a couple of ways he could have done it……

    1. Ordered a new lock to fit the existing key number.

    2. Got a new lock and fitted the lock barrel out of the old lock.

    3. Got a new lock and filed the tumblers so it worked with the old key

    3. is labour intensive and a bit crap so not very likely for a professional. 1 & 2 are both fine.
