Halogen Cooking- Roast Dinner for two

Hi not sure where to put this...

But anyway, I've got a chicken to cook, fresh carrots, pearl potatoes, gravy and stuffing- BUT I only have a halogen cooker and a single plug-in hob. I know how to do the chicken, but how to do the rest? Wasn't sure if I could put carrots in with chicken or boil them on hob? And same for stuffing/gravy?

Oh and yorks pudding! :O

Only other thing I've got is microwave. Any tips?

And any help with carving a chicken up? This is my first roast dinner though have done bits in past, so not a novice but not an expert either, especially with halogen cooker!

Need to cook today so please help as soon as you can :) Thank you!
Up and onwards to the future!

If you are having peas, they are easy (peasy) in the microwave.
Carrots can be boiled on the hob - don't over-do them or they'll be soggy.
If you're making gravy from granules then all you use is boiling water.
You make packet stuffing by adding water (a bit like porridge), and finishing it in the oven.
If you were doing chiplotas then they are best in a pan.
Probably too late for today, but veggies can be cooked in a steamer - you can get standalone electric ones or a pile of pans that stack on top of each other (you put water in the base one and the ones above it have holes in them so the hot steam rises through); they are better than boiled.

    how big is the oven?

if big enough spatchcock the chicken so it lies flat, then another tray for the veg
Oven roast the veg with oil/herbs, drizzle honey to finish
(par boil/micro to warm through then dry, they roast better)

gravy scrape the pan drain the fat, thicken

    Stuffing, oven cook

How many are you feeding? that will determine the carve,
I just have 1/2 on my plate.
  • Hi

It's for me and my toddler, but was going to save the rest for samwiches or mini roast on Monday. So do I do the chicken first, then add veg near end? Then keep those warm while stuffing/gravy is in cooker? I've done the water ones before but they were always put into the oven?

Think I'll get peeling and chopping and put chicken on :) Wish me luck!
