A retired dog handler was just recounting his days with his police dogs. They lived with him. One of them was a sniffer dog, for drugs.
His "tell" was to sit down. Trips down the shops would involve the dog happily making friends with lots of people.
From the public's point of view, it was a happy waggy spaniel looking adoringly up at them. To the off duty policeman's point of view, it was the dog repeatedly sitting down, "pointing" to new stashes.
He tried to persuade it to do it only when he was wearing the uniform, but it either never made the association, or ignored it. Lol.

Oh this made me laugh. It reminded me of the first time we took my MIL to Egypt for a holiday. She had started sneezing like crazy on the plane on the way home and a young man handed her a couple of tissues. On landing there were 2 spaniels with their handlers who found MIL rather interesting can we say. The dog kept sitting and had it's nose at her handbag. To cut a long story short we got out of the airport 3 hours later  Whatever the guy had in his bag along with those tissues I will never know but it was the tissues that attracted the dogs attention. MIL was adamant until the day she died the dog only wanted the chocolate in her bag though :rotfl:Never look down on anyone unless you are bending to help them up.....0

When we went to Cork airport the sniffer dogs were at work. I'd made sausage butties for the flight and the sniffer dog was VERY interested in my bags. It was quite embarrassing really explaining to the handler what the smell was!0
