Ok a little prob, cant seem to get Nero to overburn. I've got some 90 and 99 minute cds but its seeing them as 80 minute. I've updated the firmware on both my cd-rw drive and my dvd-rw drive. I've also got the most up to date version of Nero 6.6.0.8a i think. I've burnt onto these cd's before with an older version of Nero but this one doesnt want to know pardon.gif
I've been into Nero's settings and enabled overburn. Anyone got any ideas?

When you say its seeing them as 80 minute, do you mean the red marker is at the 80 minute line?

Nero will only ever see an 80 minute disc so you've got to overburn and hope for the best.

You do get a program (can't remember what it's called right now - sorry) but it will tell you how many minutes you'll be able to write as some drives will not write up to 99 minutes as the laser head doesn't go out far enough on the disc.

    Start Nero
From the action-bar select File and select Preferences.
In the Preferences window, select Expert Features (or Advanced settings for older versions) and select the Enable oversize disc... feature.
Choose a Maximum CD Length and click OK (82:59:59 is the maximum value that can be entered) and be aware of the risks explained in the warning.
From the action-bar select File and select CD Copy.
A window will appear when a CD is copied which is bigger than 74 minutes, click [OK] to start the oversize copy.

interesting, mine works fine for 99mins. must be more of a drive problem than a disc/nero problem. If this is the case i was very lucky and it needs to be one of the tests done in reviews - would certainly make the final say as to whether i would buy a drive or not.

Yeah i've done that but i dont see an option for 'Enable oversize disc' only 'Enable Disc-at-once CD overburning' and i've set that to 99 mins. Then when i try to burn a file that is bigger than 700mb i just get a window popping up saying the file is too big for the disc and to insert a higher capacity disc.
On an older version of Nero i had, a window would pop up asking if i wanted to over burn but i dont get it in this version.

    Strange!!

Try downgrade Nero to 6.6.0.6, this is the version I use and overburn works fine.

I take it you are using Disc-at-once for the writing method just before diong the burn? There should be TAO, DAO and SAO......

Maybe you have a bad batch of media that cant overburn to 99mins. I cant offer you any other progs to use other than Nero. Everything else just sux.

I use Nero 6.6.0.6 and DVDDecypter for burning/ripping.
