Do humidity extractor fans work in the bathroom?

One query I have about these fans - do they stop cold air flowing back into the bathroom when not in use? We have a downstairs loo with an extractor, which I have to cover in winter as it's just a direct feed to outside, even though it has one of those flap vents on the wall.

I recently bought a 5" vortex unit for an elderly relative, it cost next to nothing from an ebay shop.
It has a powered louvre vent to the inside, takes about a min to open and the same to close on power down, that would cure your problem.

A fantastic bit of kit and it was less than a tenner brand new.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Most decent quality ones will have eithere a powered louvre on them or back draught shutters to prevent cold draughts from the outside.
You may click thanks if you found my advice useful

Great - thanks I'll look into changing the loo one then.
