Hi everyone
went out on a rare night out last night, which turned out to be a nightmare, then to finish my night off my purse was stolen or lost. It contained everything and had £100 in which was meant to last me the month.
Im a single mum who works part time , so i get my tax credits on tuesday, but that only barely covers my childcare costs and food.
Would i be able to apply for a crisis loan or something to help me through the month??

I'm not sure how crisis loans work, but you really must report this with the police and get a crime number. That way, the DSS will know you're not one of the unscrupulous people that go to them asking for more money because they've spent it on drugs, etc.
I'm not saying a crime number will get you more money, but it should work in your favour.0 -
If you have lost your purse you will need a crime number to claim a crisis loan, i'm not sure if you would be able to get one if you are geting money on tuesday bu if by wednesday you have no money left then you may be able to apply and recieve something then.:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0

You'll not get a crisis loan unless you have a crime number. Hope you have reported it. Maybe someone honest has handed it into the police. There are some good people left in the world. Fingers crossed that you get it back.0

My sister had her purse stolen a couple of months ago, she had just been to the bank to withdraw her rent for the month and now thinks she was being watched because someone bumped into her just after she left the cash machine and it was shortly after that she noticed her purse had gone
She contacted the police, got a crime ref number and contacted the job centre. She had not long before that taken out a top up budgeting loan as her washing machine had broken so the first suggestion that she apply for a budgeting loan was a no go.
In the end after spending all day on the phone in floods of tears she was eventually given a community care grant. And this was only because she has a disabled DH and DD.
I hope you don't have to jump through so many loops, fingers crossed you will be able to talk to someone a bit more sympathetic and helpful that my sister got at first. Good luck.0 -
Thanks everyone for all your replies and the excellent advice.
Its not just losing the money, which is bad enough, its all the things that go with it- like the fact my electric and gas cards were in there too, therefore if id of ran out of fuel this weekend i would of been screwed! And there were photos in there too and my little bit of scrap paper with all my 'to do's' on, so it kind of feels horrible knowing someone can see what i look like and get up to.
The worse thing is though is that i just booked my driving theory test which is in 3 weeks and my driving licence was in there so im gonna have to sort that out too!
Ahhh well these things happen, thanks again guys , your're great x0 -
God i hate it when things like this happen  a few years back i had my purse pinched on a very rare night out SCUM.
As you say curlytoast it's all the other things that are in the purse also that becomes a pain to replace them.Hit the snitch button!member #1 of the official warning clique.

Not sure about crisis loan from DSS but you definitely won't be given an emergency tax credit payment. They are only given when there is a problem with issuing payments into accounts or a giro is lost before the claimant receives it or cashes it.This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
