People on here have found their current account closed (by the bank)

There has always been a reason when this happened, such as debt not being settled or other circumstances that made the bank decide they would not wish to have the person as a customer any longer.

If you manage your account well, have no suspicious transactions happening and stay polite in your dealings with the bank, they won't have any reason to close your account. In very exceptional cases, they might ask you to 'upgrade' to a more current version of account - though usually they will offer some benefits to doing so, so you will probably want to move yourself.

Stay polite can you elaborate on that?

    Most certainly not, no.

I mean stay polite with staff when you don't get your way (e.g. no overdraft, no refund of charges).

Banks can and do close accounts - either with notice and immediately in some circumstances.

That said, surely even a case of not putting all your eggs in one basket?!
