If net is available at sea, then simply buy some skype credit, it makes things very easy in terms of calling then... And very cheap...!
If it is not available at sea, then use the net in a port...!0 -
If the payroll of the company that employs you is based in the UK, your income is within the jurisdiction of the CSA, wherever you are or whatever currency it is paid in.
Additionally, even when your payroll department is outside the UK, if it is income you should tell HMRC about, and you would then have to pay UK tax on via self-assessment, it is income that falls within the jurisdiction of the CSA for calculation purposes. See here: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2012/712/pdfs/uksiem_20120712_en.pdfI often use a tablet to post, so sometimes my posts will have random letters inserted, or entirely the wrong word if autocorrect is trying to wind me up. Hopefully you'll still know what I mean.0 -
Kevin all your suggestions are gladly received but the ship is at sea 8 months a year and I get back and fore by Helicopter and the bandwidth isn't sufficient to hold voice or video conversations and seeing that I've just started a 5 week rotation and needed an answer somewhat hastily I thought I'd post on here. But maybe you could create your own business developing offshore communications as your ideas are top notch.0

Fbaby, Errata,Honeynutloop,
My company is French and my payroll is Swiss I work out of the UK more than 190 days a year and seeing that my payroll country is a tax free area that also constitutes to me not paying tax in the UK. This issue is not about money at all it's about my ex being greedy and I want to be able to prove to her in writing that if she goes through the CSA she will get less or if I was a really horrible person I wouldn't have to pay at all.
It's a friendly gesture to stop her wasting her time simple as that.0 -
I get it! It's a case of going back and telling her she should be grateful as she could end up with nothing. Why does she believe she would get more going via the csa if you are paying 15% of your salary? Is it an issue with the NET/GROSS matter?
I am suspecting that you are earning well and therefore that 15% figure is already quite significant anyway and she should indeed be grateful for that?0 -
'I am paying x but going through CSA would get you the same and because it's a foreign company - if I decided not to pay it, you probably wouldn't get anything so stop trying to double bluff me.'Sanctimonious Veggie. GYO-er. Seed Saver. Get in.0

Fbaby yes correct all I require is the proof that she may end up with less or even nothing and unfortunately due to being offshore in a poor area of the world communications are limited.
Funky!!! Is this what I should be telling her?0 -

Yes Jamie it is. But what you want to know is, is this true or not, yes? If you call her bluff and tell her to "do one", then you want to know if the CSA can come after you, have I got that right? Unfortunately, after all that I don't have an answer!!Why not try it and see what happens?
Tell her to go to the CSA, and tell her she won't get anymore than what you are paying now. If you are already paying 15%, then the CSA won't take anymore than that off you anyway, and if you are paying more than 15%, then she is in for a hell of a shock when her CSA money goes down!
Point her in the direction of this board, so she can read some of the horror stories on here, of people who get nothing at all from their ex's, folk that have to battle for years, monumental mistakes the CSA make, she might then be dammed grateful she has someone who not only coughs up regularly, but also pays over the odds!!0 -
Good idea Marisco..........
Whether the CSA gets hold of me or not it makes no difference I won't be paying more than I already do which isn't a problem, but what is a problem is when I see my son when he stays at mine with ripped shoes and tatty clothes, I think the mother should produce receipts monthly to show what the money has been spent on especially with regards to clothing and school accessories. The CSA are a very sly organisation and will only chase those people who can pay to keep their statistics up.
"If you ever feel that nobody cares about you or is even concerned that you're still alive! try missing a CSA payment you'll soon have plenty of attention.0
