O/S Sunday 17 February 2013

O/S Daily Sunday 17th February This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

DH has woken up early and I'm now awake and can't get back to sleep - but no "hestering" here! Boys still asleep so DH and I are decluttering a cuppa.

Dinner at mum's last night was absolutely delicious - my bro and SIL had bought a rib of beef from a local farm butcher near where they live and the meat is always excellent and last night's was no exception - so we had a roast beef dinner last night with lots of lovely veg too, then I had made a cheesecake and my sis had made fruit crumble - so everyone was well fed and watered - we got back at around 9.30pm - lovely to catch up although my bro wasn't very well and spent most of the time we were there in bed.

Yesterday I did get some baking done, I made 1doz sausage rolls and 2 doz mince pies, I also made the cheesecake for last night - there was some left so I brought that home and it's now in the fridge - we will finish that off either today/tomorrow. Did some computer work for DH and did do some work on menus and researching recipes so I can put together a menu using what we already have in and some different meals as we're in a food rut again.

Today we have a half leg of lamb for lunch - I will be doing all the trimmings with it as enjoy doing this for my family on a Sunday when we can all sit round the dining room table and eat a civilised meal instead of the choas during the week! It's not a massive joint so there may not be any LOs of meat - but should be LOs of veg and yorkshires etc. If there is any meat left I will get that in the fridge quickly and then do a pot of gravy, re-heat the meat in it then put layered potatoes on the top for a hotpot type dish - that will make another meal. Also have a part tub of cream cheese left - and have always finished up throwing it away after its been open a while and not used, but I'm going to use it to stuff chicken breasts that I will then wrap in bacon - these will make another meal - the chicken breasts are already in the freezer. Sausages will make another meal - again these are in the freezer, and I'm going to defrost 1 of the salmon that are in the freezer - this I will do at the end of the week - and I will use it for steamed salmon with either new pots/jackets and veg, will also then make fish pie and anything left will be used to make fish/salmon fishcakes or another fish pie to freeze - so as you can tell there's a strong theme of using food from the freezers - the outside one is iced up really badly and as I have a week's holiday from the 25th Feb would like to use up as much as poss as then defrosting will be easier. I'm not even sure what's in the bottom of the freezer as its so long since it's been anything less than 3/4 full!

Have a good Sunday everyone x

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

Early start here, someone came to pick up the tools I had for sale at 7.15 this morning. At least he's been and I have the rest of the day free to spend the money he paid!

Looks like being a better today, it drizzled all day yesterday and was very murky. Not raining yet but there are clouds in the sky, would love to have a day to put the washing out.

Taking DD to get new work trousers today (I am not a fan of the shops) and get some food shopping. Tea last night was pasta carbonara and tonight it will be chicken stir fry with noodles unless we eat out.

Off for a shower now and get moving. Take care and enjoy Sunday. XX
  • Morning all
Hubby has a day off from Hestering here, lol, he's busy in the garden aleady.
We have no car at the moment, DD has borrowed it, DGD, who is 2 had hidden DD's keys when DD needed to go to work!
I've sorted out my yarn & crochet squares, I have enough squares to make 11 blankets, I'm aiming to finish as many of them as I can over half term, I've sold 7 now.
Dinner today will be roast gammon, with roast potatoes, carrots & cabbage.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning

Bright and sunny again here but there is a frost

Fed the cat and the guinea pigs
Cleaned the kitchen and emptied the bins

Having a cuppa and am surfing for a while

Going to plant some seeds today and stick them on the window ledge , I got quite a few different veggies for 49p a pack and some packs of 4 different veggies for 99p :j. I had no luck at all last year with my seeds , hardly anything grew and if it did , they all rotted in the constant rain we had. Hoping this year will be more fruitful

The washing is up to date

Need to think what's for lunch

Have a good day everyone xx

    Morning all,

Bright and beautiful day here, got a towel wash on the go which I will hang on the line.

This morning my dd is off to a Kenyan church service, we are not religious at all, but when in Rome and all that :D , this afternoon she is off to Menegai Crater which looks fantastic, tomorrow its back to working with the children.

Going to get my wash done, and have a quick tidy round, then make some sandwiches and get out for a long walk, I need some air.

Dinner tonight will be the beef burgers from yesterday, we had a delish curry instead.

    Have good days all xx

    Morning all,

lovely sunshine here too. Oh how it brightens the day!

Girls got me up an hour ago and the house is quiet. The men are sleeping still and the girls are snoring quietly next to me.

I'm hoping for a better day with hubby than i had yesterday, unfortunately we both rubbed eachother up the wrong way. From spending only weekends together to spending all day and every day in eachothers pockets isnt doing either of us any good. Hubby thinks its great though.

Unfortunately last nights arguments carried over to before bed time. I'm dreading today.

Hope you all have a good day, sunny and warm.
